Recent Events
  • On Saturday 11th November, five years to the day since members of the Choir sang at the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War I in Carnegie Hall, New York, we were delighted to share in a Poppy Prom Concert with Heath Band.  The poignancy and significance of the date was reflected in the first half of the concert, whcih enable us all to remember those we had lost.
  • On Saturday 8th July, the choir performed a Summer Concert at St Barnabas Church, Linslade.  The very appreciative audience enjoyed an evening of uplifting songs, including well known tunes by Gershwin, Simon and Garfunkel, Carole Bayer Sager, film music from La La Land and much more!  Two comments from members of the audience summed up the excellent feedback. “Had a lovely evening last night. Went and listened to the stunning singing, performance of Grand Union Community Choir in #stbarnabaslinslade Church. The singing. acoustics and setting were all superb“.  “Super concert last night, some real quality singing (and playing) really enjoyed it
  • On Saturday 17th June 2023, Grand Union Community Choir joined nineteen other choirs from Milton Keynes and around the country at the 3rd Annual Milton Keynes Community Choirs Festival.  The event also saw a massed choir of approching 250 singers from all the groups singing a movement from Forever, a new work written by Roddy Williams to celebrate the 250th Annniversary of the writing of the hymn Amazing Grace.
  • Come to the Music! On Saturday 26th November, the choir performed the pre-Christmas Concert that had been originally planned for 2020!  It was a concert in two halves; the first celebrating the importance of community and the human spirit; the second half celebrating the Christmas story.
  • Together Again! On Saturday 9th July, the choir performed its first full concert since the start of the pandemic.  It was a  performance full of smiles and collective happiness; it was wonderful to be back sharing our music with our families and friends!
  • On Saturday 4th December members of the choir their family and friends joined together in the grounds of St Barnabas Church, Linslade to sing Carols by Torch and Lantern Light. This,  the first opportunity for members of the choir to sing together in public since March 2020, raised £600 for Alzheimer’s Society.
  • Our Virtual Performances  included the 2.6 Challenge ‘Singing as One’ for Parkinson’s, our annual Christmas Brass and Voices Concert with Heath Band and the Christmas Carol Marathon. The 2.6 Challenge and Christmas Carol Marathon brought singers from 4 different groups together, something which would not have been contemplated before Covid-19 and in December we celebrated a new ‘concert first’ with The Heath Band when we jointly presented our first On-line Christmas Concert. We are proud to have raised a total of £4800 for Parkinson’s UK and all from the comfort of our own homes!  The choir also took part in the Inspire Choir Showcase in May 2021, our first International Online event!
